This groovy map offers some fun, yet relatively complex patterns that are not often present in dancey maps.
I’m always happy to see mappers spend the time and effort to give their maps a full set of difficulties to reach a larger portion of the playerbase. While I think the mapper did a fantastic job with the upper difficulties, I did find that the easy difficulty was out of range for an actual easy-level player. It would been nice to see more resets and more use of horizontals, with less note-dense sections over all, to prevent some of the difficult up-swing notes that easy players are not accustomed to.
That said, I found the rest of the difficulties to be fantastic and of the appropriate difficulty level. The expert+ in particular was a ton of fun, with some patterns that I found to be technical, but very rewarding. There were still lots of flashy, high movement doubles that I would expect to find in a dance map, and I thought the mix-up was pretty fun.
However, I did find some of the stacks in the 2nd and 3rd lanes functioned almost like horse blinders, particularly during the chorus. I found that it was difficult to see what was coming up behind them, even if the following note was in the 1st or 4th lane. The vision blocking was particularly bad in the expert difficulty, where the NJS was in a middle ground of not being high nor low enough to prevent this issue. I feel an expert+ player, and above, would not find them as egregious, as their sight-reading and reaction time would be better.
Nonetheless, I still think this is a fantastic map. The colour choice and lights are all well done and complimentary to the map, and the patterns as a whole were well-designed and fun to play. Thanks for the great map, DontShootME!
