Hey look ma, the old man made a Beat Saber map!

Just watching TechButterfly play the map gives you one of those good wholesome, feel-good sensations on the inside.  What's even more sensational than that is the fact that he made the map himself!

TechButterfly (aka Karl Tinsley) brands himself as "old guy with sabers" on YouTube, but watching him play this map makes you feel like he should call himself "Jedi sage".  While many mappers possess the skill to make their own maps look fun because they have memorized everything they have choreographed, I decided I had to try it for myself.  The verdict is........

Yes it's fun!

By mapping a slower song, TechButterfly has opened up opportunities to map more taboo patterns, this allows the proper use of double-directionals.  While the community typically shuns double-directionals, they work well in this map because everything is paced out properly.  However, there was two moments that I recall where this felt awkward to me.  Because of this, I will remove one point from "Flow".

The pattern quality in this is also a breath of fresh air from the traditional "down-up-down-up" patterns that we see in many maps these days.  The patterns in this map encourage the players to swing relatively wide while also giving them to opportunity to dance and groove to the song.  This map relies a little too much on notes with overlapping hitboxes however (two diagonal notes directly adjacent to each other).  Once you're aware that this note combo is trickier to hit than average, it's difficult to let loose.  For this, I will take away one point from "Fun Factor".

Old Guy with Sabers has made a great map with a solid difficulty spread from Easy to Expert.  Add this to your playlist when your friends come over to play Beat Saber!
