I’ve played many, many hours of DJ Hero; it’s great to see mixes from that game making a comeback for Beat Saber.
The “Beat Juggle” mix itself is great for any rhythm game as it’s like a “challenge” from the DJ to play your best. There’s quite a few other tunes I can think of that would be great for this, and would love to see. The mapping totally matches the challenging aspect of the song, starting out fairly easy and ramping up with each section as the narrator mocks your skills.
“Groundhog (Beat Juggle)” is the Scratch Perverts remix of Groundhog, a 2008 track by Dutch electronic group Noisia. It was featured in the 2009Guitar Hero spin-off, DJ Hero.
Noisia, stylized as NOISIΛ (VISION turned upside down), is a Dutch electronic music trio consisting of members Nik Roos, Martijn van Sonderen and Thijs de Vlieger from Groningen, Netherlands.
They produce a wide variety of music including drum and bass, dubstep, breakbeat and house. They own three record labels: Vision, Division and Invisible Recordings, and have released on several labels including Skrillex’s OWSLA, deadmau5’s mau5trap and Jay-Z’s Roc Nation.
DJ Hero is a music video game, developed by FreeStyleGames and published by Activision as a rhythm game spin-off of the Guitar Hero franchise.
It was released on October 27, 2009 in North America and on October 29, 2009 in Europe. The game is based on turntablism, the act of creating a new musical work from one or more previously recorded songs using record players and sound effect generators, and features 94 remixes of two different songs from a selection of over 100 different songs across numerous genres.
