ExistenceExpire is a relatively new mapper, having only really started earlier in 2020. Nonetheless, they’ve come a long way since their earlier maps, and it’s been a satisfying journey to watch from the sidelines. Expire has really been able to carve out their own unique flair with near-perfect execution that goes a long way to fill in a much-needed niche within the community.
This map is a perfect example of how Expire manages to take music with a lot of rich and complex rhythms, and capture the noise with intense -but fitting- patterns. Solid emphasis can really elevate a map to the next level, and that’s something that this mapper brings to the table in spades. I would perhaps like to see a bit more variety in the patterns, but these sorts of things come with time and have already vastly improved over the mapper’s earlier work.
Of course, it wouldn’t be an Expire map without some wall lyrics! Whether you love them or hate them, it’s certainly a lot of extra effort to go so above and beyond, every single time. The lightshow, as well, shows an extra level of dedication to the craft to further build a unique experience every time. It certainly hasn’t gone unnoticed, at least not by me.
While there is always room to improve, Expire continues to make leaps and bounds forward. While I am personally not a metal fan, I have a deep respect for mappers that so relentlessly produce quality maps for a small portion of the community. It’s not often their work is appreciated, when so few players will experience it. Nonetheless, well done, Expire. May we all look forward to your next work!
